Burn gel is a hydrogel used for the immediate first aid treatment of all types of minor burns. Burn gel consists of in excess 90% of water trapped in a proprietary gel containing a small percentage of the active ingredient, Melaleuca Oil - naturally occurring and among the purest forms of the Australian Melaleuca alternifolia tree (tea tree oil). Melaleuca Oil is a medically proven antiseptic used for centuries to support the healing of skin irritations, abrasions, minor wounds, insect stings and bites because of its anaesthetic, antimicrobial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Burn gel dressing offers its users an almost instant pain relief from the cooling gel and the anaesthetic properties of the Melaleuca Oil. The cooling properties of the dressing help to prevent burn progression and curtail further tissue damage. Burn gel dressing provides a simple and effective way of relieving burn pains and treating burns. Being over 90% water, the dressing re-hydrates the burn, and its mild biocidal properties help prevent secondary infections.

Sterilized by gamma radiation and with a 5-year shelf life, the dressing acts by drawing heat away from the skin surface preventing the heat from progressing deeper into the skin. How to use burn gel ?

1. First, remove the burn dressing from the packaging and apply immediately to the burn area
2. Use the bandage and safety pins to secure the dressing in place lightly
3. Leave the burn dressing in place for 30-60 minutes
4. Seek immediate medication attention if the burn is severe or covers a large area

Cautions of burn gel dressing:

1. Make sure the wound area is clean and dry before using dressing.
2. Hydrocolloid dressing should be 2 cm bigger than the wound area to make sure that dressing could be covering the wound.
3. If the depth of wound is more than 5 mm, it is better to fill the wound with proper material before using hydrocolloid dressing.
4. It is not suitable for wounds with heavy exudates.
5. When the dressing becomes white and swelling, it indicates that dressing should be changed.
6. At the very beginning of using the dressing, wound area maybe enlarged, this is caused by the debridement function of the dressing and it is normal phenomenon.
7. The gel will be formed by the mixture of hydrocolloid molecule and exudates. As it looks like purulence secretion, it would be misunderstood as the wound infection. Just clean it with saline.
8. There maybe some smell from the dressing sometimes, and this smell disappear after cleaning the wound with saline water.
9. Dressing should be changed at once when leakage occurred around the dressing.
10. If symptoms persist, seek professional medical attention.

Contraindications

1. Do not use on 3rd-degree burns or chemical burns
2. Do not apply to uncontrolled wounds.
3. Do not use allergies or patients who are known to be allergic to sodium carboxymethyl cellulose or hot melt adhesive.
4. It is not suitable for dry wounds, infectious wounds, wounds with a large amount of exudate.
5. If the wound is caused by insufficient blood supply or diabetic foot ulcers, when using the product, check the wound status daily.

Special Notes

1. This product is for external use coating, do not eat, children must use under adult supervision.
2. This product is a sealed sterile products, if found damaged or open do not use.
3. This product is a disposable product, don't touch once opened.
4. Seek medical advice immediately for all serious wounds and burns, or if redness or discomfort occurs.
5. This product should be stored in the relative humidity is less than 80%, ventilated, dry, clean, non-toxic gases indoors.
6. Single use only. Do not re-sterilize.
