CHG Chlorhexidine Gluconate I.V. Securement Dressing is an antimicrobial dressing that combines infection reduction, site visibility, consistent application and catheter securement in one integrated, easy-to-use product. 

Chlorhexidine Gluconate I.V. Securement Dressing combines the most critical elements of IV site care into a single, easy-to-use product, providing a convenient and reliable solution for the securement and monitoring of catheters and other IV devices. These transparent dressings offer full site visibility, antimicrobial (CHG) protection, catheter securement and consistent application.

It provides immediate and continuous antimicrobial protection for up to 7 days with a highly breathable transparent film that offers a waterproof, sterile barrier against external contaminants*. Both the film and the CHG gel pad remain clear for continuous site observation.

A reinforced stabilization border provides strength needed to stabilize the catheter. A conforming keyhole notch allows catheter lumens to fit better and stay in place, and the conforming edge border uses technology designed to reduce edge-lift. A securement tape strip with a notch promotes consistent application and enhances stabilization, and a documentation tape strip pre-printed for documenting dressing changes provides additional securement.

Infection is one of the most serious complications of IV therapy, with catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) causing significant morbidity and mortality. Our IV Dressing provides a microbial barrier that prevents bacteria, fungi, and other pathogens from entering the access site. The dressing is sterilized using ethylene oxide (EO) gas, ensuring it is free from viable microorganisms at the time of use. The adhesive forms a seal around the catheter and skin, reducing the risk of contamination from external sources (e.g., hands, clothing, or environmental surfaces). Additionally, the dressing is latex-free, eliminating the risk of latex-related allergies and cross-contamination.

Our CHG IV Dressing combines physical barrier protection with chemical antimicrobial action for comprehensive defense. The outer layer features a breathable non-woven backing and transparent polyurethane film that block external pathogens (bacteria, fungi, dust) from reaching the access site, while the CHG-infused inner layer targets microbes already present on the skin or attempting to colonize the catheter surface. This dual-barrier design addresses both exogenous (environmental) and endogenous (skin flora) sources of infection, a critical advantage over standard dressings that only address external contamination. The CHG layer is positioned to contact the skin around the catheter insertion site, ensuring direct antiseptic exposure where it matters most.

At the heart of our IV Dressing is a medical-grade acrylic adhesive that balances strong adhesion with gentle skin compatibility. The adhesive is designed to adhere firmly to intact skin without causing trauma during removal, reducing the risk of skin tears—especially in vulnerable populations such as elderly patients, neonates, or those with fragile skin. Unlike rubber-based adhesives that can cause allergic reactions, our acrylic adhesive is hypoallergenic, making it suitable for patients with sensitive skin or a history of adhesive allergies. Additionally, the adhesive maintains its integrity in humid environments (e.g., during bathing or sweating) and resists curling or lifting at the edges, ensuring long-lasting securement of the VAD.

Our CHG IV Dressing is designed for extended wear, with a recommended use period of up to 7 days for peripheral IV catheters and 7-14 days for PICC lines/CVCs (in compliance with CDC and INS guidelines). The sustained-release CHG matrix maintains effective antimicrobial activity throughout this period, eliminating the need for daily dressing changes. This extended wear time reduces nursing workload, minimizes VAD disruption, and lowers supply costs—all while enhancing infection prevention.

Prolonged coverage of the skin can lead to moisture buildup, which increases the risk of skin maceration, irritation, and bacterial growth. Our IV Dressing addresses this with a breathable non-woven backing that allows air and moisture vapor to pass through, maintaining skin dryness and integrity. The backing is composed of a porous, lightweight material that is soft to the touch, reducing friction and discomfort for the patient. Unlike impermeable dressings that trap moisture, our breathable design minimizes the risk of skin breakdown, even when worn for extended periods (up to 7 days, as recommended by clinical guidelines for most VADs).
